Assembly Room

In this room the delegates of the Continental Congress nominated George Washington as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army (June 14, 1775). A year later, the Declaration of Independence was approved in this same room (July 4, 1776). The Continental Congress continued meeting in this room until December 12, 1776. Philadelphia, PA
